Local names
Half of Palanka navigates by nicknames rather than by the names on the signs. If someone tells you “let's meet at Španjolka's”, this is the list you need.
„Kod Španjolke”
that is Lagano — fast food · Bulevar kralja Petra I 49
Named after the owner, who married into Palanka from Barcelona (“Španjolka” means the Spanish woman). The nickname caught on so completely that it is now part of the venue's own name.

„Goša”

Named after the WWII hero Dragoslav Đorđević Goša. The factory employed a large part of the town for decades, so “Goša” today means both the company and a part of Palanka.

Named after the healing mineral (naturally carbonated) water. The same name covers the spa, the park and a part of town — and the water is bottled under the name Karađorđe.

Named after the old department store. The name stuck in everyday speech even after the shops changed — as did “Sigma”, “Uzor” and “Oblik” for the neighbouring centres.
