Smederevska Palanka (eastern part of town)
A balneological health resort at about 103 m above sea level, on 5 hectares in the valley of the river Jasenica. It has 4 springs of sodium-bicarbonate, carbonated water — hypothermal (12.5–15°C) and hyperthermal (32–56°C). The earliest surviving record of the healing properties of the springs dates from 1719 (sources differ on its authorship); the healing properties were confirmed by chemical analysis in Vienna in 1834, and the first publication about the spa was issued by Dr Lindermajer in 1851. Today the water is bottled under the name Karađorđe.
