How to buy a train ticket
Tickets are sold on the official Srbija Voz site. The form is in Serbian only, so every field is explained here — step by step.
The five steps in the app
- Izbor voza — choose the route, date and class.
- Putnici — enter a name and details for each ticket.
- Prijava — sign in; the account is free to create.
- Kupovina — pay by card.
- Završena kupovina — the ticket arrives by e-mail.
What each field means
- Stanica OD
- Departure station. The station here is listed simply as „Palanka”, not Smederevska Palanka.
- Stanica DO
- Destination station (e.g. Beograd Centar).
- VIA
- Route via a given station — leave empty unless you need a specific routing.
- Povratak OD
- Only used if you chose a return trip.
- Jedan smer / Povratno putovanje
- One way / return trip.
- Datum putovanja i razred
- Travel date and class. The date format is day-month-year.
- 1. razred / 2. razred
- First and second class — second is the standard, cheaper one.
- Broj putnika
- Number of passengers in one purchase.
- TRAŽI
- Search — lists the trains for that day.
- DALJE »
- Next — go to the following step.
- POMOĆ
- Help — the carrier's own instructions.
Children
Children under 6 travel free and do not count as passengers, provided they do not take a seat. If the child has their own seat, the ticket costs the same as for children up to 14.
Payment
The form shows Visa, Mastercard, Maestro, American Express and DinaCard.
Before you travel
- The safest way is to buy at the station counter before departure — buying on board costs extra.
